The training program on ‘First Aid’ was conducted at Tiaano Vidyashrm by Mrs Daisy, a qualified Nurse, teacher and a practitioner. The participants were Teachers (Akkas), Attenders (Akkas), school bus drivers (Annas) and other admin staffs. 

The training program was mainly intended to see that all our staff members were made aware of the importance of First Aid and are equipped to handle the situations when a child requires immediate preliminary medical attention (First Aid) prior to the arrival of a qualified medical practitioner.

It was an eye opener, when Mrs Daisy explained the conventional myths of common man’s approach to First Aid and its negative impact on the patient.

Mrs Daisy explained the First Aid procedures which is likely to occur in a primary school environment
    • cuts-(Superficial and Deep)
    • Nasal bleeding
    • Fractures
    • Sprain, Muscle catch up
    • Burns, Electrical shocks
    • Bites-Dog, Cats, Insects, Snakes
    • Sudden raise in body temperature.

Mrs Daisy also explained the necessity to keep away the chemicals from children’s reach. (Phenyl, acid, cleaners, soaps, diesel, petrol, kerosene), nails, pins and any small item which can be ingested by children.

We had a live demonstration “on how to bandage” a cut/ fracture depending on the intensity and the injured location of the body of the child 

After the demonstration, there was an interactive session where participants threw many queries. This was clarified by Mrs Daisy to the satisfaction of the participants. This was followed by Vote of Thanks by Janaki akka (Teacher) highlighting the utility value of this program.
